Care to share?

Last week I mentioned I am going to have hold my very first stall, at the North Melbourne Market next month. I've got three garbage bag full of vintage clothes I have finally admitted to myself I'm not going to get around to wearing or refashioning so it's time to share the love! Above is a sample of what I will have to share.

Though it occurred to me this weekend, I probably don't have enough to warrant an entire stall space! And I figure there is probably at least one other person out there who might be in the same boat.

So I'm opening it up - does anyone care to share my stall space with me? It's 1.8m x 2m, and all I am going to have it a rack of clothes and that's not going to take up my space at all!

Perhaps you have some baked goods to share? Vintage clothing of your own? Handmade items? They will have tables available for hire $5 each, free chairs and you'll have great company ;p

Drop me a line if you're keen!

Fingers crossed
x

I love shiny things

Woohoo, I got my shiny, new, light in weight, heavy in features, 13" Macbook Pro today. Just in the nick of time too. My PC at work must have heard it was coming and completely went KAPUT yesterday! Fingers crossed the replaced hard drive in the old PC will mean that I can actually retrieve my files before I put it to bed.

I'm currently trialling out the Blogo blog editing program. A good blog editor is one thing I will miss, Windows Live Writer is pretty damn awesome.

You know my love of all things vintage but every now and then it's nice to get something shiny and new :)

Hopefully it will mean I can blog much more regularly because it will be all the more streamline :)

Now, must find out what all these new toys on it do...

What is WRONG with people?!

I was so upset by this story I just stumbled across by accident last night, I couldn't sleep.

I really hope they catch the despicable person who did this!
http://moonee-valley-leader.whereilive.com.au/news/story/puppys-ears-tail-cut-off-in-sickening-attack/

Who could attack a defenseless, 8 week old puppy with a pair of scissors and then abandon it alive and in excrutiating pain in a SCHOOLYARD of all places?! Who could possibly have done this to a puppy and ignored his anguished cries of pain and not stopped?

It really makes me so ill. Seriously, what is WRONG with people?

I really feel for the staff at The Lost Dogs home who treated poor little Buckley. I was so distressed just reading about it, I’m sure those poor staff need counselling.

I visited the Lost Dog's Home a couple of months ago when our cat Timmy went missing. We didn't find him unfortunately but it did give us the opportunity to see a bit of the valuable work they do there.

Seeing some of the animals they need to rescue because of human stupidity I'm going to give them a large chunk of my tax return this year. http://www.dogshome.com/

It’s all just so depressing and overwhelming. All these animal welfare organisations are inundated with dumped and injured animals. Why people don’t respect animals more is just beyond me. But still, to do something small at least is much better than doing nothing just because it seems overwhelming. We can’t turn a blind eye to these things.

But really, there are some days I really feel my faith in humanity fading…

Viva la vintage!

[ image from flickr ]

The wonderful ladies at Thread Den are hosting a market day next month and I’m going to host a stall. You should too!

It’s only $25 to hold a stall

and I’ve never done it before but I have 3 big gargage bags full of vintage clothing I have recently admitted to myself that I am NEVER going to wear. I bought them because they are beautiful or funky but in reality, I have loads of vintage dresses already and I’m prob never going to get around to wearing these. Best to let someone else appreciate them and share the vintage karma!

If I had a bit more time I’d probably make some things to sell but I don’t think I will be able to get it in time but I hope to coax a friend into making some yummy cupcakes to sell as well.

Would love some company down there! If you’ve only got a few things to sell but would like to join in drop me a line and perhaps we can combine? I think it’d just be lots of fun.

Here are the details:

fighting the winter blues the best way i know how – ginger tea!

We are back from Bali and we had the most wonderful time. Ate ourselves silly and didn’t get Bali belly once! Had jumbo prawns the length of a dinner plate, fresh snapper right on the beach, delicious Balinese fair. Beautiful gardens. Massages every second day. Snorkelling amongst coral. So many friendly faces! Can’t wait to return.

It has been ever so hard to be back in bleak, cold, miserable Melbourne. Especially when I got struck hard by some kind of cold a week after returning, that wasn’t the swine flu but had me bedridden for a week, exhausted from coughing and light headed from blowing my nose. Proof I should have stayed in sunny, warm Bali!

Oh well, we returned with packs of ginger tea and Bali coffee and we’re determined to stay busy and avoid the winter blues slump we fell into for a month last year after returning from European summer. Must power on the best way we can – with cups of ginger tea, fruit muffins, dvds and for me, lots of sewing! I had Mum’s little baby workhorse Elna serviced for the first time ever – though they told me she had been very well maintained, but told me off for not using Elna bobbins. Who’d have thought it would make a difference?! I certainly didn’t know.

I’m rearranging the sewing room, splashed out and got myself a fancy ergonomic office chair which I have reupholstered already too. And will be trying my hand at some lingerie and fine fabric sewing the next two weeks.

Hope you’re all staying warm, my lovelies! More from me soon.

xo MOO!
